On February 8th, 2018, Arpent invites you to the First Québec Forum on the Future of Accessory Dwelling Units (Forum UHA), organized in partnership with the Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation (CMHC), Société d’habitation du Québec (SHQ), the National Institute of Scientific Research (INRS), Écohabitation, the CECOSOL and Réseau Villes Régions Monde (VRM).
Whether one thinks of a semi-basement apartment, a side annex or a tiny house in a backyard, accessory dwelling units are gaining more and more attention because of their potential to densify existing neighbourhoods and diversify the housing stock.
Hosted by Marc-André Carignan, the purpose of the forum is to provide an overview of the situation regarding accessory dwelling units in Québec and Canada, and to create a space for discussion about their integration into urban, suburban and rural areas. Arpent wishes to initiate a movement of accessory dwelling units and encourage their development in Québec, in order to encourage soft densification and the creation of affordable housing.
Arpent is pleased to invite CMHC, Écohabitation, Microclimat architecture, the cities of Ottawa and Repentigny to address these themes during the Forum.
